Some designs are clever not for their complication, but for whether they have truly thought a certain kind of life all the way through.

Patek Philippe's Twenty~4 is a statement in its very name: designed for a woman's twenty-four hours. Its lineage reaches all the way back to the legendary Gondolo shaped watches for women; as early as the turn of the twentieth century, Patek Philippe was already making elegant watches to accompany a woman's daily life. In 1999 the Twenty~4 arrived as a Manhattan-style rectangular quartz piece; in 2018 came a round automatic version, placing the rigour of mechanical watchmaking into contemporary women's hands.

Its most moving quality is the thoughtfulness of understanding a whole day. From a morning meeting to an afternoon on the move to an evening dinner, through every turn of the wrist and change of setting, it stays in proportion, never gaudy at the office, never shabby at dinner. It does not prove itself with a heap of complications, but grasps something more fundamental: a woman's day is never a single scene, but a sequence of countless switches.

This is the hardest thing in good design. Piling on function is easy; restraint is hard, keeping only what is truly needed and taking the surplus away, so an object folds naturally into every part of a life rather than looking good in only one instant. It asks to be noticed not all at once, but gradually, over the whole length of a day.

What YEEKI.N Design believes in is that same attitude of designing for real life: a person's image should not exist for a single occasion, nor be reassembled from scratch each time the setting changes. It should, like a watch that understands twenty-four hours, stay with you from morning to night; the scenes change, and you remain yourself.
